Selling and Redeeming Gift Cards

The BridalLive software is flexible enough to handle selling and redeeming gift cards.

There are essentially to sides to handling gift cards.
  1. Selling the Gift Card
  2. Redeeming the Gift Card

Selling the Gift Card

In order to sell a Gift Card, you must first add a Gift Card item to the Item List.  To do this, click Inventory > Add Item.  When adding the item, enter a Name of Gift Card, Item Type of Non-Inventory Item, Tax Code of No Tax and leave the price $0 (it will be adjusted later).

Once the item is added to the Item list, it will be ready for sale.  To sell the Gift Card, just add it to any transaction and manually adjust the price to match how much the customer is purchasing.

When you are done, you will need to issue a certificate or a gift card with the amount on it.

Redeeming the Gift Card

Now that you are all setup to sell gift cards, you'll need a way to accept them as a form of payment.  To do that, you'll need to add "Gift Card" as a payment type.

To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Go to Settings > Point of Sale > Payment Methods > Add Payment Method.
  2. Enter the name "Gift Card"
  3. Click Save and Close
When a customer wants to pay with the Gift Card, you will follow these steps to accept the gift card:
  1. From the customer's order, click Payments
  2. Enter the Amount being applied to the Gift Card
  3. Select Gift Card as the payment type
  4. Click Add Payment
If the Gift Card still has a remaining balance, you'd just write it on the card and/or notate the amount in the Customer Notes and/or the Transaction notes box.
