Overview
This guide walks you through how to install, power on, connect, and register the Stripe Reader S710 to start accepting in‑person payments.
Before You Start
Make sure you have:
- A Stripe account
- A Stripe Reader S710 device
- Access to power (USB‑C cable and adapter included)
- Wi‑Fi or cellular connectivity
Step 1: Unbox & Charge the Reader
- Remove the reader and accessories from the box
- Plug the USB‑C cable into the reader
- Connect to the power adapter and outlet
- Charge fully before first use
The battery will last approximately 15 hours on a full charge.
Step 2: Power On the Device
- Press and hold the power button until the screen turns on
- Once powered:
- Tap the button to sleep/wake
- Hold to power off or restart
Step 3: Connect to the Internet
The S710 supports multiple connection types:
Option A: Wi‑Fi (Recommended)
- Open Settings (swipe from left edge)
- Tap Wi‑Fi settings
- Select your network and enter the password
Option B: 4G / LTE (Built-in)
- Automatically connects when Wi‑Fi is unavailable
- No setup required in most cases
Option C: Ethernet (Optional)
- Requires a dock or hub accessory
Step 4: Access Settings (if needed)
To configure the device manually:
- Swipe from the left edge
- Tap Settings
- Enter admin PIN: 07139
- Adjust:
- Wi‑Fi network
- Device settings
- Generate pairing code

- Assign readers to locations in Stripe for management
- Leave device powered overnight for automatic updates
Troubleshooting Tips
Reader won’t connect
- Check Wi‑Fi credentials

- Regenerate pairing code (refer to step 4 above)
- Ensure correct Stripe account
Device won’t power on
