With the upcoming HQ feature, BridalLive has introduced UPC and SKU for Items.
What is UPC and SKU?
A Universal Product Code (UPC) is a unique 12-digit number assigned to a product by its manufacturer (Vendor). It is used for scanning Items at the Point of Sale and for tracking inventory across retailers.
A Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) is an alphanumeric code you assign to track a specific product variant. Unlike a UPC, SKUs are unique to your business and can follow any naming convention.
In other words, the UPC tracks the Item itself and the SKU tracks the specific variation (ex. color/size) of the Item in BridalLive.
How can I add a UPC/SKU to an Item in BridalLive?
A UPC or SKU can be added to the Item’s Information page, through the Item Import process, or via the Marketplace.
On the Item Information page:
The UPC and SKU fields can be found on the Item’s Information page under the Vendor dropdown:
On the Item Import:
The Item Import spreadsheet now includes a column for UPC and a column for SKU. You can read more about importing your Items here.
From the Marketplace:
If a Vendor has included UPC/SKU information on their Marketplace inventory, the UPC/SKU will be included on the Items when downloaded to your Inventory. You will be ale to review the UPC/SKU when adding the Item to your download queue.
New UPC/SKU Settings:
There are new settings for UPC/SKU in Settings > Inventory > Preferences.
- Enforce Unique SKU per Store: When enabled, BridalLive prevents you from saving two Items with the same SKU. SKUs are checked only against your own store's inventory — not other stores or linked accounts.
- Show UPC/SKU on search pages and reports: This will give you the option to show the UPC, the SKU, the UPC and SKU or opt to hide them on the Item search altogether.
Labels and UPC/SKU:
UPC/SKU can also be printed on labels by selecting UPC or SKU for the barcode source when printing:
This will print the selected UPC or SKU under the barcode on the label.
How to Use UPC/SKU:
UPC/SKU can be used to search for Items in the following places:
- Search Items page
- Physical Inventory
- Transfer Requests
- Transactions
With the exception of the Search Items page, you can set the search field to search by UPC or SKU by clicking the gear icon to the right of the search bar:
This will allow you to key in the UPC or SKU (depending on your selection) to search for the Item.
